ABOUT
Leonor Saunders is a visual artist and graphic designer whose practice is rooted in a close observation of everyday life, a deep connection to nature, and an intuitive response to the narratives that emerge from spontaneous gesture. Her work draws on the rhythm of the sea, the shifting qualities of light, and the subtleties of the ordinary.
With a background in Fine Arts from Porto, Saunders has developed a distinctive visual language in which colour, composition, and emotion are fundamental. Through drawing and painting, she explores the delicate interplay between lived experience and its visual representation.
In 2025, she held her first solo exhibition in Lisbon, based on the project 100 Waves – a personal commitment to produce one painting per day over 100 consecutive days. This series marked a pivotal moment in her artistic trajectory, using repetition as a meditative and exploratory process.
Alongside her studio practice, the artist engages in live sketching projects, capturing ephemeral moments in real time, particularly during intimate and spontaneous events. This performative approach to drawing enables her to document human experience with immediacy and sensitivity.
Her work has been shown and represented on various platforms, including Artsy, where the piece "Crossing Rivers"(2025) stands out as a visual exploration of the intersection between landscape, introspection, and emotional transition.
To her, art is a space of connection – each piece an invitation to experience, reflect, and remember. Her practice seeks to build bridges between feeling, perception, and permanence.
